Buttons in a Frame

Following on from my recent ‘buttons’ posts, here’s another idea!

You will need:-

  • A photo frame
  • Buttons
  • Thread and Needle (or a hot glue gun?)
  • Some fabric (bigger than the size of your frame – I used a scrap of white polycotton)
  • Masking tape
  • Pencil and Scissors
  • Optional – Embroidery hoop

Method:

1)  Using a pencil, draw your design on your fabric (I chose a heart, but feel free to use a design of your choice).

2) Secure into the hoop (if you have one – I find it much easier to work with one)

3)  Play around with your buttons to get an arrangement that you are happy with (I did this, then took a photo and used it as a guide!)

4)  Sew buttons onto the fabric (or hot glue if you prefer)

5)   Remove fabric from hoop, then trim so that it has an approx border of 3 cm

6)  Edge all 4 borders with masking tape (to prevent fraying)

7)  Fold the fabric around the glass of the photo frame.  Secure with more masking tape (to prevent any creasing).

8)  Assemble photo frame (fabric will now be on the outside of the glass).

It should now look something like this…..

If you make one of your own, please let me know how you get on!

I also love this lovely button headband from Tip Junkie…..
